Firenze (Florence)

We’ve stayed in bunk beds, rooms the size of the inside of a Mini Cooper, rooms with only a sink and then, there was Hotel Margaret. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. We buzzed the front door, walked up a flight of steps to the main office. The sweetest little lady said you pay anytime and walked us up to our room. She opened the door and we were standing in our very own apartment complete with: king size bed, bathroom with shower, living room and kitchen. It was the most unexpected surprise. All of this for the same price as the formerly mentioned accommodations.

Florence has been one surprise after another. Another happened in the Boboli Gardens in the Palazzo Pitti which felt like 100 acres of trees and paths. We were walking up a couple steps to what we thought was a small lookout and all of a sudden we were staring at the most beautiful countryside (picture above).

Tomorrow we are taking a bike tour in Tuscan wine country and then off to the beaches of Southern Italy
